The Lake Shore Volunteer Fire Company, Inc. responded to a report of a structure fire on Saturday, December 5, 2009. A call of a structure fire came in to Hamburg Fire Control at 12:06 am at 5749 South Western Blvd. Angola First Assistant Chief who was in the area, called it in as a working fire. Hamburg Fire Coordinator John Carlin was on scene in two minutes. Lake Shore First Assistant Chief arrived on location and reported a 1 1/2 story wood frame residential working fire. lake Shore Chief Chad Witkowski arrived on scene and assumed comand. There was a vehicle in the driveway and reports of possible victim inside. Lake Shore Engine 2 arrived on scene and hit a hydrant with a 4" supply line and laid in two 1 3/4" hand lines. At the same time crews from lake Shore Engine 2 and Engine 1 did a primary and seconary search with no victims. The fire was brought under control in 26 min. Cause was determined to be an unattended fire place. Mutual Aid Companies that assisted were: Hamburg, Lake View, Scranton, Eden, and the Erie County Sherriffs fire investigation unit.
